Abilities and interests

In a working capacity my main interests are centred on the media world. Having decided to pursue this as a career avenue from an early age, my a-level and subsequent degree level studies were based on meeting this ambition. Whilst at secondary school I developed a keen interest in the written word and this connected with my passion for sport allowed me to gain some fantastic freelance reporting opportunities from a number of different organisations.

During my University years I also developed an interest in the areas of design, production, photography and web design and harnessed all these abilities with the production of the Primrose and Blue, Warrington Wolves Fanzine (both in print and on-line), that ran for a dozen issues between (1999-02).

One of my particular strengths is in the area of web design and management and my small business (natashurst.com) continues to grow all the time.

It is perhaps at my former place of full-time work (Priestley College), that I have learnt the most as I have worked independently for the last eight years playing the leading role on the marketing of the "Outstanding" Beacon College's media output in a role that has encompassed press release writing, web design and management, photography and numerous aspects of internal and external communications.

Away from work I have a number of interests. I have played for local amateur rugby league club (Lymm RL) since the club was formed in 2008. Prior to this I was involved in the setup, management and playing side at Warrington IMBRL. An amateur club with an emphasis on social rugby that competed in the North West Counties Division for a number of seasons.

Sport really is my passion and I follow my local rugby league team – Warrington Wolves around the country, including trips to the South of France and of course two recent visits to Wembley where the side lifted back to back Challenge Cup titles.

I am also a keen follower of Tranmere Rovers FC and attend home games at Prenton Park, whenever I am able to do so. Health and Fitness in general are really important to me too, so I also regularly attend the gym and I also like nothing better than enjoying the company of my family and friends in lively social environments.

I am also a keen DIY enthusiast and have recently finished renovating a large semi-detached house, which I then sold on.

In 2012, during a year out I will be spending time in both Australia and the USA.
